Chelsea 1 Portsmouth 0, the result suggests it was a close call for Chelsea who were 6-1 on to win and complete the Premier League and FA Cup double. The contrast between the League champions and the relegated, financially ruined Pompey made you wonder if the underdogs would leave the scene with a bite. And they could well have.
The spectacle of 5 shots on the woodwork including an easy tap in from Kalou which hit the crossbar, plus two penalties; so plenty of incident. And the expertly hit free-kick from Drogba which went in the corner of the goal. Is that enjoyable for a fan? Of any team?
It would have been less tense if Chelsea had scored from each woodwork shotplus the penalty, and Portsmouth had succeeded with their penalty. Then a 6-1 against result would have mirrored the odds on offer before the match and seen me exulting in success, and this is also enjoyable.
Put it another way: do you prefer biting your nails or jumping up and down with your arms in the air? I think I have made it clear .....for myself, anyway. It has to be the arms in the air!
